Sala ProSat is the no.01 Satellite navigator system in Srilanka.  It got almost every road in srilanka. This system is working  with Navitel GPS software, and because of that we can install this great map on our Android based mobiles for FREE of Charge.

I’ll explain you each and every step how to install this on your Android device.

First of all you need an Android device with GPS. and also you have to install an user friendly File manager software for your android devise.

Step – 1

As I told you this system is based on Navitel GPS software. So first you have to install Navitel GPS software. Download the software from here

Follow the below screen shots carefully and follow the steps accordingly..

Before begin the installation you have to enable “Unknown Sources – allows installation of non-market applications” on your android device (Settings -> Applications -> Unknown Sources -> Enable). After that you have to copy the navitel.apk file (APK files are the Installation files for applications on Android) into your android device. After copying open the setup file .

Tap Install. Don’t change any parameters. Just install with the default settings

After application installed tap Done button.

Then Reboot your android device.

After your android device back on open the Navitel application

Then a dialog windows will open in Russian language.

You have to change the language to English.

Please make sure to change every thing according to above screen shot.

after you press OK there will be a below warning massage. If you don’t want to see this warning massage again tap Don’t Show option and tap OK

After that Navitel software will detect the GPS Hardware on your android device.

Press OK . Then it will ask to enable something called “Navitel Jams”. Tap no because this will not support in srilanka.

If GPS disabled on your android device Navitel software will show a dialog box like below.

After that Navitel setup will ask you to create Atlas. Make sure to tap No.

After you press “NO” ,Application will load without any map. (Blank space with some options around) tap on the menu button on the right corner and select EXIT (not minimize or cancel).

Ok now we are going to put SALA ProSat Map in to Navitel software, Before begin make sure to check whether Navitel running on background. (you can use any task manager)

Putting ProSat Map on Navitel – Step – 1

First of all extract the downloaded 2011 Map File. There will be a folder inside called Atlas, Navigate in to that folder, there you  will see lot of files with .nm2 extension. Connect you android device to your PC and copy all the files located in that folder (not the folder – only the files) to “/mnt/sdcard/NavitelContent/Maps/”

Putting ProSat Map on Navitel – Step – 2

Then you have to put Sinhalese voice package accordingly to the Navitel software. Extract the “045B~[Sinhala] Shakila” zip file and go to the folder, inside that extracted folder you will see another folder call “045B~[Sinhala] Shakila” you have to copy this entire folder to “/mnt/sdcard/NavitelContent/voices” folder. Refer the above screen shot.

Ok now you are almost done…

Next Final Step.

After doing all the steps above now you have to open the Navitel software again. When the software loads it will show the below dialog window

Do not interrupt this process. Don’t do anything just wait patiently. According to the speed of you android device this process will take up to 10 mins or more. So make sure to wait until you see the below massage.

Congrats now you are ready to go. Tap OK now…

Now you can see the Srilanka map on the software. And now your Android device is ready to hit the road with your vehicle.
